Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel joined striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 after his comments in a recent interview, when he claimed he was not satisfied under former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager was sacked at the end of last season, which was only his second season in charge of Chelsea, for not being able to lead the London side to any silverware.
Despite being a top class manager and having the respect of most of his squad, there were the odd players who recently claimed they were not happy under him.
The 25-year-old Ivory Coast forward got the ball rolling when he claimed Ancelotti did not make the best choices when it came to squad selection.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Mikel has backed him up with his comments which suggest the former AC Milan boss was mostly to blame for the trophy-less season.
Mikel felt that he had been in decent form but was not given enough opportunity to prove himself, which is why he was disappointed.
The 24-year-old midfielder felt the Blues season had gone downhill after a perfectly decent start because of inconsistencies amongst the team.
Even though, according to Mikel himself, he had been consistent in his form and performance, he was dropped from the squad in favour of senior players.
Mikel said while speaking to reporters:
“I had a good start to the season until about January. Then when the club had a bad run, it affected everybody. Everything went downhill.
I was playing in every game, Champions League and Premier League, but suddenly we had this bad run which went on for about a month or two.”
However, he revealed he remained hopeful for the upcoming season, where he was certain he would get more first team opportunities.
Chelsea are currently without a manager, having not found a manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti as yet.
Mikel said he was hopeful that whoever replaced the Italian would realize his true potential and give him a chance to show it on the pitch.
Despite the disappointing finish last season, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970 international revealed he was looking forward to the upcoming season.
He said he expected his side to do better, show improvement and return to their winning ways. Mikel continued:
“Every season you are going to have a period when things are not going well for you and other times when things are going well. You have to try and manage both.
I just try to stay professional, train and forget about it. I play when I get the opportunity.”
