Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Obi-Mikel-c18882 has revealed he believes it was former manager Andre Villas-Boas’ lack of communication skills which led to his early departure.
The young Portuguese manager was sacked mid-season following a string of poor performances which saw the Blues crash out of the Carling Cup competition and the top four of the English Premier League. His assistant Roberto Di Matteo was made caretaker manager.
Since he has taken over the Blues have done much better, going on to win the FA Cup and making it to the final of the UEFA Champions league. According to Mikel, Di Matteo deserved to be given the job as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager on a full time basis.
Mikel said in an interview:
“The communication was not right. AVB is a great manager. He has done well for himself and is only young. But when you are young, coming into a business like this you are going to make mistakes.”
Speaking on Andre Villas-Boas’ apparent failure to communicate successfully with his squad, Mikel said he believed the young manager was extremely talented. However, he did not feel the manager had gelled well with the team in his short time with them.
The 25-year-old admitted the players had been clueless during the short reign of Andre Villas-Boas, during which time the team rotation left the players frustrated and uncertain.
He revealed:
“Nobody knew what was happening. When you have something like that in your mind, you don't know what to do. You come into training and think, 'Should I train well, because I don't know if I'm going to be playing at the weekend?'
Things like that just went on and on.”

Mikel continued:
“His man-management has been fantastic and the way he goes about his business before a game - tactics and preparation - is just absolutely spot-on. So we hope he gets it.”
