Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Obi-Mikel-c18882 has revealed he wishes to have interim manager Roberto Di Matteo made the full-time manager.
Former assistant manager to Andre Villas-Boas, Di Matteo took charge of Chelsea as the assistant manager in March. He was given responsibility of a Chelsea side on their worst run in ten years, but managed to turn things around.
Not only did he lead Chelsea to a FA Cup win this season, he also ensured they won the most coveted trophy in football; the UEFA Champions League. Despite not finishing in the top four, Chelsea have successfully qualified for next seasons European competition.
The club chairman Bruce Buck confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo regarding a more permanent position but revealed they would not rush into anything. Mikel believes the Italian manager has more than proved himself and deserves
the manager’s position.
Mikel said in an interview:
“I would like to see him get the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. When he took over, he had a word with me and said he knows how good I am, I am just maybe lacking a bit of confidence. And he gave it back to me.
But, at the end of the day, the club will make the right decision.”
However, Mikel admitted the decision was not up to him and that the club would have to decide if wanted to have Di Matteo as a more permanent manager. As for Chelsea’ victory after being underdogs at the Allianz Arena, the Nigerian believed his side had
shown their ability.
Ever since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took over the club, he has wanted to win the UEFA Champions League. Having previously reached the final in 2008 against Manchester United in Moscow, the Blues finally won the biggest prize in football and Mikel
was certain Abramovich was a happy man.
He revealed:
“We have shown what we can do. And, hopefully, people can stop writing us off.
I think we have made names for ourselves - we are the first club to win this trophy from London. I think it is just fantastic, it is amazing.”
