John Smith’s Grand National gets attention of 84 challengers
A total of 84 entries have been attracted towards the John Smith’s Grand National, which is scheduled to take place at Aintree in England on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The all important holds great importance and everyone will be preparing for it over the
next few months.
However, the total number of entries will definitely cut down with the passage of time and majority of the class performers will be left at the end of the day. They will definitely give a tough time to each other, but will have to focus on their form and
fitness at the moment.
Looking at all of the runners scheduled for action at Aintree, it appears that On His Own and Prince De Beauchene have got the upper hand right now. Both have been trained really well by veteran Willie Mullins, who will be expecting to steal the show in
the main event.
Out of the two favourites, On His Own could be a touch rusty right now, as he has not been seen in action for quite some time. He last raced at Aintree in 2012 and took a heavy fall back then, which ruled him out of action for almost one year.
Compared to him, Prince De Beauchene is in a much better situation and his confidence level is high. He has been winning races with consistency and there is no fitness concern surrounding him. Therefore, most of the punters might opt to gamble on him compared
to others.
However, some other runners such as, Cappa Bleu, could also pull off a surprise this year. His trainer, Evan Williams said, “He is a very unexposed horse and his inexperience probably caught him out last year, but hopefully he will benefit from that this
time around. Everything has been very good with him since his comeback at Carlisle [second of five in November] and, given the way the weather has been, I am delighted we managed to get the run into him when we did.”
He added, “He holds entries this weekend but he will be entered everywhere as I am very keen to get another run or two into him before Aintree.”
All in all, the horseracing fans will be hoping for a great battle at Aintree and they will be expecting the challengers to push each other hard.
