John Terry, Phil Jones: Best of Gameweek 4 – Fantasy Premier League – Part 1
The Barclay’s Premier League had offered everyone with another exhilarating weekend of football action with hat-tricks, upsets and one of the most bizarre bits of goalkeeping all on offer.
With the dust settled fantasy premier league managers will be wondering how their teams have done and with an average points tally of 57 points in the Gameweek it seems that almost everyone was on their game.
Either that or most of them had Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) or Sergio Aguero (Manchester City).
It is now, however, time to take a look back at the previous gameweek and pick out the players who earned themselves the most points.
Starting things off at the back with the goalkeeper:
Asmir Bergovic (Stoke City)
We chose both Luis Suarez (Liverpool) and Asmir Bergovic (Stoke City) as the two players managers should be looking at for the match and as it turns out it was not the multimillion dollar Uruguayan star who came out on top but rather the goalkeeper.
Pulling off a sequence of brilliant saves to deny both Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam on more than one occasion, Bergovic was easily our Man of the Match.
For his spell binding performance, the keeper earned all three bonus points, the four points that come with every Clean Sheet as well as the two points for playing the full 90 minutes.
Another point was also given for making more than four saves, which took Bergovic’s tally to an impressive 10 points.
With 30 points in 4 matches, it seems the keeper is mostly responsible for Stoke’s unbeaten start to the Barclay’s English Premier League.
Defenders
Phil Jones (Manchester United)
There was plenty of hype surrounding the arrival of the former Blackburn Rovers player at Old Trafford and so far he has more than lived up to the level of expectations surrounding his ability.
Not only a rock in the United back four, Jones has also helped set up a number of Manchester United’s goals. A testament to that statement would be the two assists he provided for goal scoring opportunities, which earned him a handsome six points.
Another four points for the clean sheet and two points for playing the duration of the match, and Jones had an impressive 12 point tally to brag about.
John Terry (Chelsea)
He may be nearing the ‘veteran’ tag but that is not preventing John Terry from being one of the most consistent point earners in the Fantasy Premier League as he proved with another solid performance over the weekend.
It takes an extra special performance from a defender to earn anything more than three points if the opposing team manages to score, so in that respect, the 12.5% of fans who chose him for their team will be grinning from ear to ear with the return of 11
points.
Three bonus points and six points for scoring that crucial goal meant that John Terry is still hot property in the Fantasy Premier League.
