Chelsea Captain John Terry has made it clear that his team has not conceded the title to Manchester United and is willing to fight them all the way through.
Chelsea completed a convincing 4-0 win against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on Monday. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, Nicolas Ankela and Ramires got on the scoresheet for the Blues.
The win kept http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in fourth place on the Premier League table. They are trailing first-place Manchester United by seven points.
The game between Manchester United and Chelsea that was scheduled on December 19, 2010, was called off due to bad weather. The two teams will face each other twice before the end of the season, first on March 1 and then on May 7. Terry said that his team is capable of beating United home and away, and those two upcoming games would determine the fate of the title. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain went on to say that when the two teams are competing for the title, a match between them is potentially a six-pointer. He said maybe it was better for Chelsea that they did not face United while they were going through a tough period, and added that now that his team is full of confidence they cannot wait to play the Red Devils.
"Manchester United are playing well at the moment and getting the right results, maybe getting a bit of luck too," said Terry.
Terry had words of praise for his scoring players from Monday's games.  He said that the goal by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 was one of the most important ones, as it was the first for the Brazilian. He said that the whole team was delighted for Ramires and that also showed the backing the team provides to new players. He was also happy with Drogba, who opened the scoring in the Bolton game with a fantastic long-distance strike.
"Didier got us off to good start with probably the best goal of this season so far and we worked really hard all over the park," Terry said. "We stopped Bolton playing and it worked for us."
Drogba said that when he took the shot he was not sure if it would go in. The Ivorian said that he saw just a window of opportunity and took the shot, and luckily it went in off the bar.
The Ivory Coast international added that the win against Bolton has given Chelsea a big boost, and with a string of wins on their back the team feels that the title bid is back on track.
Drogba, who won the Golden Boot last season, added that Carlo Ancelotti has managed to keep the team together through a tough time, and now the results are starting to reflect the hard work put in behind the scenes.
He seconded his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314’s words and said that by no means is the title race over, adding that not only are Chelsea focused on defending the Premier League title but they are also gunning for glory on the European front.
