I am not a Terry fan and think Gerrard or Ferdinand would have been better for the team.  Probably just another mistake for England football.

IT'S a step forward.

Much better than having the bumbling Ferdinand and Terry will lead by example and win games with determination NOT by mint-Gerrard dives.

im not a fan of john terry in the slightest but even if i didnt mind him i would still say that Gerrard would have made a much better captain! It is difficult to captain a country but out of the whole english squad i feel that gerrard is the one that could and will lead them to greater heights, due to the fact that mc claren also gave the armband to terry it doesn 't really come as a shock that he has retained it, however what is with ferdinand getting vice captaincy, the fact gerrard now isn't even vice captain is both a disgrace and a joke, gerrard would do a better job than either of the chosen captains, im a ireland fan so i know what it is like to under achieve and have wrong managerial decisions have a major effect, i think capello has got it wrong, way wrong!

Gerrard would have been better but i think this just lets everyone know that England will be achieving little and nothing in football in the coming years.

TBH, i think he'll do a great job :)

he's an awesome player and yes, they made a VERY good choice. he'll do a better jod than steven-i-am-so-overrated-gerrard and definitely a better job than FERDINAND!

I am really shocked to find out Steven G isnt even a vice captain now...  What a h**l.  He is much better than Rio.  I didn't like J Terry became England Captain either.

At least it's not Lampard. I never really understood their FA, appointing McClaren, then Capello. Capello is one of those guys you can get at any time. They would have been better off with the Special One.

I couldn't care any less, as long as it doesn't affect Ferdinand's on-pitch performance.

Terry is gutsy for sure but don't think he has wat it takes, to take England forward, he has had a chance and I saw no glimmer of success. Gerrard would be a better option. I hope I am wrong about Terry it would be cool to see England show form! consistently!
