http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas has been hoping for a quick recovery for the Blues skipper John Terry, who could now be out for as much as six weeks.
The 31-year-old had been playing through a knee injury that had been bothering him since the start of 2012, but it seems he has made things worse. Terry is now looking to miss important fixtures for Chelsea and the friendly against Holland next week for
the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team.
The London side will be without John Terry in their upcoming English Premier League fixtures and the second leg of the fixture against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League. It is believed that Terry will be undergoing a small procedure on his knee, after
which he will be fit to make his return.
While manager Andre Villas-Boas had been hopeful of Terry making an appearance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in the first leg of the European competition, it was not to be. Terry trained with the rest of the squad on Monday but it was decided the Blues skipper was not
fit enough to participate in the match.
The Chelsea captain apparently experienced pain in his knee after the training session and as a result was ruled out of the match. Villas-Boas confirmed after the 3-1 loss to Napoli that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 was most likely to miss out on six weeks of action due to
the injury.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“Four weeks would be excellent.
We'll have to wait and see tomorrow [Wednesday] how the operation goes, and hopefully the player can return in that time frame.
But normally it's six weeks.”
The news will come as a huge blow to the Blues, who have not managed to win a single fixture since John Terry was ruled out, which was three weeks ago. His replacement Gary Cahill has not managed to fill Terry’s shoes in his absence and has struggled in
defence alongside David Luiz.
If the Blues are to rely on the partnership of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 then the duo will have to improve before the second leg of the Champions League clash against Napoli. The Serie A side will arrive at Stamford Bridge with a two goal advantage two
weeks from now.
