Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 has revealed he was actually happy to have unhappy players in the team as the Blues look to make a fresh bid for the Premier League title in the second half of the season.
With the arrival of manager Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge, many changes have been made at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 have more than often found themselves on the bench under the Portuguese manager.
While many have been unhappy under the 34-year-old manager, Terry maintains it’s for the bets. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international believes it is good for the players to face some in squad competition, which would certainly encourage them to perform better.
Terry said while speaking to reporters:
“Unfortunately when people do not play, you get that people write 'this player is unhappy with the manager', which I don't think is the case - they are unhappy they are not playing.
For me, whether you are young or old, you want to play every single week, regardless of the competition. That desire is what I want to see.”
For Terry, it was a good thing that players were upset to not be in the starting XI since it meant they were fighting for a spot in the team. The Chelsea captain was pleased with the fighting spirit and passion in the team which meant they had a better chance
of succeeding in the second half of the season.
As for Frank Lampard being dropped from the team, Terry felt the midfielder had proved he still remained one of the top players for the Blues despite having to fight for his place in the squad. It has been the 33-year-old midfielder who has scored on occasions
where goals were not to be found easily by the London side.
He revealed:
“People have been making a big thing of certain players not playing, but we have seen that the likes of Frank is still one of our best players and also in the world, not only with his goal scoring but with the balls he puts through.”
