http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 says Chelsea's old guard still have what it takes
Chelsea captain John Terry believes that the older players in the squad still have what it takes to compete at the very highest level of football.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 squad is getting too old, claiming that the 30-something’s in the team still have a few good years left in them. Terry’s comments come in the wake of Chelsea’s 4-0 decimation of Bolton Wanderers at
the Reebok Stadium. The Blues completely dominated the match, and are showing signs of returning to the deadly form, which won them the Barclays Premier League and FA Cup crowns last season.
Asked whether the 30-somethings in the squad had a future at the club beyond the current season, Terry replied, “I certainly hope so. We all realise we are a small squad and the club are looking at different options. I don't want to get into that but, what
I will say, if the group has to stay together for the rest of the season we will definitely be right up there.
He added, "We were reading that people don't fear us (Chelsea) any more. The message in the dressing room is 'don't fear us at your peril'.”
Chelsea’s recent slump has left them ten points behind leaders Manchester United, leading many to write off their chances of retaining the Premier League title in this campaign. However, John Terry remains optimistic. The England international believes that
his team still has a shot of winning the crown for the second successive season.
Terry said, “We have some tough games coming up. It is going to be a big test, we realise that, but we're certainly up for the fight and we won't give up. One thing you cannot take away from the squad is that winning mentality. That rubs off on everyone
coming into the group.”
Let’s see whether the Blues can continue their winning streak when they face Everton at Goodison Park in a few days time.
