John Terry says Copenhagen win could kick-start Chelsea’s season
Chelsea defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 has claimed that his side’s recent victory over FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 fixture is exactly what the Blues needed to regain their confidence. The England international believes that
the win might just turn Chelsea’s season around.
The Blues already have one foot in the quarter-final stages of the Champions League after they defeated FC Copenhagen 2-0 in Denmark yesterday. The reigning English champions will take two vital away goals back to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of the
fixture – a lead that the Danish side will have great difficulty in overcoming.
Terry admits that Chelsea’s success against FC Copenhagen will go a long way in helping the Blues regain their shattered confidence. The defender said, “It is a good lift, winning does that and you can see the buzz in the dressing room. It is important we
continue this run, this could be the start of it. The manager (Carlo Ancelotti) said we are not dead yet and there are a number of games to be played and points to play for and we are not dead yet."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have had to endure an abysmal season so far. The Blues are currently lying in fifth place in the Premier League table, 12 points behind leaders Manchester United. Even the most optimistic Chelsea fans have written off their side’s chances of retaining
the Premier League crown, but Captain John Terry believes there is still time to pull off an amazing comeback.
The England international said, “When we do go on a bad run, people pinpoint the age. But what we have got is an awful lot of experience, a lot of trust in each other and belief that we can still do it. Look at last year as well - the experience we showed
last year in a lot of big games in the run-in.”
Terry will have a chance to back his words up with action when Chelsea face Manchester United in a crucial Premier League encounter next week.
