John Terry to miss England's midweek friendly match against France
As England prepare for their friendly match against France in midweek, they will be without one of their top fullbacks, John Terry.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the same injury which kept Terry out of the lineup over the weekend will also keep him out of the England squad on Wednesday 17 November.
Terry has been dealing with a nerve problem in his hamstring, an injury which kept him out of the lineup for Chelea's 3-0 loss to Sunderland on Sunday, and Ancelotti believes that Terry will be fit in time to return for Chelsea's next match against Birmingham
next Saturday, but not for the England match in midweek.
"Terry trained yesterday, but at end of it had pain on the nerve in his hamstring," Ancelotti told reporters after the Sunderland match.
"We had tests this morning and he was not able to play today. I don't think he will able to play for the national team. He is out.
"I expect him back for the next game. He has had control of this problem, he never missed training. Yes, the pain was more and so he was not able to play, but I think he can play the next game. He is being treated, so I think will be ok."
Chelsea suffered their worst loss of the season, and their second in their last three matches. Chelsea ran out to the top of the table early in the season, but several teams are now hot on their heels.
Right-back Paulo Ferreira replaced Terry in the center of defence for the Blues, and although Chelsea conceded three goals, Ancelotti was not about to point the finger of blame solely at Ferreira.
"We lost because Sunderland played better than us and we played our worst game of the season.
"Sometimes we have had some players out, in the past some important players out and the team still played well. Today was different, we were not able to play a lot of football."
