http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 urges Chelsea to man-up ahead of the crucial clash against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League
Chelsea skipper John Terry revealed that the Blues were behind manager Carlo Ancelotti, after his position was brought under speculation. Rumors suggested the Italian manager would be on his way out after Chelsea were eliminated from the FA Cup by Everton.
The untimely elimination from the cup competition added to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s woes as the Blues are not doing too well in the English Premier League. Chelsea are currently at fifth place on the table, some 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United.
The Chelsea centre back admitted the possibility to his side not finishing in the top four to secure a place in next seasons Champions League was scary. Terry said him and his teammates had to “man up” to improve their performance and get better results
than those they had been previously managing.
This season saw the London side experience their worst slump in over 15 years, which has fueled rumors Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is looking for a replacement for Ancelotti.
Terry was mortified at the thought of his side not finishing in the top four of the Premier League. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international admitted a failure to make it to the top four at the end of the season would be disastrous. Since the arrival of Roman Abramovich
the Blues have maintained a decent form, managing top four finishes.
Terry said while speaking to reporters, “That would be disastrous for the football club if we don't qualify for the Champions League. It's even hard to get my head around it now.”
The FA Cup exit put more pressure on Ancelotti to win the Champions League with the London side, the failure of which would certainly end his career at Stamford Bridge.
However, Terry maintained faith in the Italian manager, “The players are 100% behind the manager. He's got total confidence in us, and that will remain the same. We believe in the manager and the players. We have to man up a little bit as a group of players
and take responsibility.”
Terry felt it was up to the senior members of the squad to step up and take responsibility for the poor form they had been in. He felt that was necessary for the team to improve.
He said, “It's down to myself as captain, Lamps (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097) and Didier (Drogba) - as well as the rest of the squad who have a responsibility - to look at their own form, their own characters and just make sure we stay together.”
Chelsea take on FC Copenhagen tonight in a fixture that can make or break their season, anything less than a win will not be acceptable.
