  3. Not really. It is a hoax.

    I read somewhere that the stories John Titor tells are actually based on some role-play background story.

    And that time travel thing... It is just scientifically too implausible (Titor stories claim it will be created in the 2030's or so!). It would probably take a ridiculous amount of energy and a gigantic machinery (probably something like a rotating black hole or some other cosmic-scale structure) to create a real time machine. And you wouldn't be able to travel back in time BEFORE the time machine itself was created!

    This kind of technology - IF it is allowed by the laws of physics  in the first place, we just don't know yet - is at least several centuries away in the future, more probably at least a thousand years away, probably even more.

    This is what contemporary physics seem to say.

    Hoax, hoax, hoax and once more a hoax.
