The supposed time traveler from 2036 who posted on the internet around 2000 called himself "John Titor", but there's no way to know if that was a made-up moniker or not. In fact, nothing of certainty is known about this person. He did make a number of predictions about what would happen in the future, and a perplexing number of people actually believed in & supported him, nobody knows why. However, all the predictions he made have to date been failures. That's not too compelling. To me he sounds like a run-of-the-mill internet troll who found a good schtick and made it work for him.
