The Macedonian national coach has taken out time to heap praise over the current Real Madrid team and has expressed that he expects great things from them under Jose Mourinho.
The Welshman, who was the manager of Los Blancos twice in his career, said that the current crop of players at the Bernabeu is remarkable and he was appreciative of the way things are run with Jose Mourinho at the helm of affairs.
John Toshack managed Los Merengues for two brief spells; first time from 1989 to 1990, and the second time from 1998 to 1999, leading the Whites to a Spanish La Liga trophy.
It was under the Welshman that Real Madrid broke the record for scoring the most goals in a single season, scoring 107 goals during the 1989-90 campaign.
Under Mourinho, Los Vikingos currently sit at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings, four points clear of their traditional rivals, Barcelona. The current champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 have been forced to remain at the second place by the Whites
and many accredit the Portuguese mentor for doing so.
Toshack observed the goal tally held by the current Madrid team and stressed that he never expected his record to be broken. However, it appears that the Spanish giants will have little difficulty in ousting the record by the end of the season.
The 63-year-old added that it was impressive to see how the Santiago Bernabeu outfit managed to keep Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona at bay.
He described that having faced such competition and still managing to stay at the top cannot be an easy thing to achieve.
While talking to reporters, the veteran coach was quoted as saying:
"Years ago I always said to friends and former colleagues that the record of 107 goals would never be beaten, but this is a team who have it in their hands. It's easy to say but not easy to achieve. That is almost three goals a game, and Real and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604
are now two teams far above the rest.”
Real Madrid will take on Bayern Munich in continuance of their UEFA Champions League campaign on Tuesday.
