John Wall, Blake Griffin - Solid NBA draft pick of the last decade - part 1
NBA hunts the talent through NBA draft which happens every year. Players are selected on performance basis at college level. Ones with the best records are selected first and on the top of them all is the number one draft pick.
But does this mean, he is always better than rest of the fifty nine players that are selected in the draft?
It usually happens that he turns out to be the best but sometimes top drafts can be a disappointment too and the fellow draftees turn out to better. I have come up with a list that contains the best picks for last ten years.
John Wall-2010
John wall, the top draft of 2010 was an easy pick because the draft was not that strong that year and his fellow drafts were virtually no competition to him. His Rookie season was good where he averaged around 16 points and 8 assists
per game which is very impressive at this level but still being the top draft, this average was a bit on the low side. He was not able to deliver what was expected of him by his fans and his team too. He is with Washington wizard since April 2010 and was later
also signed by Reebok as the face for their latest basket ball shoe.
Las Vegas summer league turned out very good for him where he averaged 23.5 points, 7.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 32.3 minutes per game and was also named as most outstanding player of the league. No doubts about
his potential but after the summer league he had a rough patch following with few injuries and his decision to stay out of the game for a while but he is all set again to make a comeback and he is more pumped up than ever. He has been working on his fitness
and only time will tell if he will be able to continue in the same manner as he started his career.
Blake Griffin-2009
In such a short time Blake Griffin has made a healthy reputation. Blake Griffin has a solid build and an excellent temperament. Extra ordinary record at college level and was rightly selected as the top draft by Los Angeles Clippers.
He was named summer league MVP of 2009. Unfortunately for him, he injured his knee cap in the final preseason game and for that he had to miss the whole 2009 season. He made his comeback in 2010 and started brilliantly. Scored 20 points in his comeback game
and later set a record for most consecutive doubles-doubles with 23 in a match played against Golden State Warriors.
He won the rookie of the year award and was also being named an ALL-Star. A lot of expected of him in future. I am sure he will do justice to his talent and become one of the big things in basket ball.
