John Wall all set to star in Las Vegas All-NBA Summer League – NBA News
John Wall, the prodigious point guard of the Washington Wizards is all set to participate in the two-week long summer league scheduled to be launched on September 12 in Las Vegas. The league will be organized by the famous trainer
Joe Abunassar, who trained Wall while he was preparing for the last year’s NBA Draft, one in which he was selected as the number one pick.
Wall’s name is expected to be included in the list of 60 NBA players who will take part in this effort to retain their competitive edge during the NBA lockout.
Abunassar, the founder and the head trainer at Impact Basketball, has trained many of the National Basketball Association players over the years. Although, dozens of NBA stars come to Vegas for training every summer, the impasse
that the NBA lockout has caused this years, has given Abunassar an opportunity to hold a all-pro league, the idea of which was given to him by the Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley,
“I said, ‘Let’s do it.” Dudley said “Once we did that, I’ve been getting calls from agents, players, saying, ‘I want a slot. It should be great.”
Before he was picked as 1st overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, Wall was selected as the Most Outstanding Player in the Las Vegas Summer League where he averaged 23.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 32.3 minutes per
game. Wall failed to accomplish a lot for the Wizards after his left foot injury and bruise in the bone of right knee, but now he is focusing on his game and being the foundation on which the Wizards are building their young side, great things can be expected
from the guard.
Wall has also been participating in the pro-am leagues. Recently, he was part of the roster of the Goodman League which played against the Drew League in the much hyped ‘Capital Punishment’ at the Trinity University. Wall showed
an electric performance and scored 28 points in the game.
After his performance in that game, Wall had said, “I’m back to myself. Now I feel I can blow past people, get to the basket. I think those things back that I started the season with last year. You’re going to see some stuff this
year; it’s just whenever — hopefully the season starts as soon as possible.”
Abunassar is expected John Wall to reach out to other team mates of the Wizards to give the league the feel of a mini-training camp. “A guy like John, he's going to get on the phone and get a couple of his teammates here, so they
can play together. The guys in Vegas, they are already dividing their teams.”
The league will organize the scheduled team competitions on daily basis and will have playoff games. Four games will be organized in five days of week for 2 weeks which will be played according to the rules of NBA with 24 second
shot clock. According to the initial plan 8 NBA players will be divided on eight teams.
