John Wall eying an early return to the Washington Wizards roster next season – NBA News
John Wall was getting ready to lead the Washington Wizards into the next NBA season when he discovered that he was going to miss nearly a month of action because of a left knee injury.
After working hard during the off-season to improve his game so that he can make a bigger impact for the Wizards, the former number 1 draft pick out of Kentucky received the bad news that he was in the early stages of a stress
injury to his left knee cap, ruling out his chances of opening the season for his team.
But Wall is taking the injury in good spirit, and hoping that he can make a comeback before the stipulated time.
"Luckily, I'm young. Hopefully, it'll heal quicker than what it takes older people. It's tough, I just try to keep positive people around me, try to stay positive, don't think negative,” said Wall.
Wall is the most important player in the Wizards line-up, and averaged 16.3 points, 8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game last season. His efforts, however, were not enough for the team to reach the playoffs.
“It was a surprise to me. Just imagine what it was for him when he found out the actual result. But he's going to get through it. He's got high spirits. I've been here doing this workout regimen with him, just to let him know I'm
in his corner and help him get through it,” said team mate Martell Webster.
With Wall out of the line-up for the start of the season, the Wizards have signed point guard Jannero Pargo to take over the position. Pargo said that he had nearly signed a deal with the Chicago Bulls before he got the offer from
the Wizards, but he was happy to be here.
With Wall out of the line-up, Jordan Crawford, Nene and Emeka Okafor will have to pick up the scoring as the senior members of this young Wizards team, and have a huge responsibility to shoulder as the Wizards to make their first
playoff appearance in five seasons.
