John Wall is not a fan of NBA Commissioner David Stern
Washington Wizards star John Wall is pretty unhappy with NBA Commissioner David Stern. Wall doesn’t think Stern has played a positive role in the NBA lockout and believes the commissioner is out to harm the interests of NBA players.
Wall, who impressed in his first year with the Wizards, has spoken of his frustration with the NBA lockout in the past. He has been trying to keep busy by playing in many pickup games over the summer, but chose to spoke out as
more and more time is lost to the lockout.
"I think he's trying to take advantage of us," Wall said of Stern, who's representing the league and owners in negotiations with the National Basketball Players Association. Stern locked out the players on July 1st when
the old Collective Bargaining Agreement expired and he cancelled the first 100 games of the regular season in the previous week.
Therefore it is not hard to see why some player would have a beef with the commissioner.
"I think we're doing a great job of not biting [and doing] what he wants us to do." Wall remarked according to ESPN.
He believed the Commissioner, who has regularly taken swipes at the players during the lockout and tried to paint them as a greedy and unreasonable bench, is goading the players but they were wise in not responding to him a harsh
manner.
"I think we're doing a great job of sitting back and being patient and [waiting to take] the deal that we want to take,"
In the end, John knows that the most important thing here is a fair new CBA. The players want a deal that is beneficial to everyone and believe they have already given back enough; it is now time for the owners to show that they
too are committed to ending the lockout.
If it were to the players, according to John, they would have never let the NBA regular season games get cancelled.
"Everybody knows we want to play basketball. Our fans want to see us play. We want to play. We've just got to sit back and make sure we get the right deal that benefits us down the road, especially us young guys."
There has been consistent rhetoric by the NBA players over the past few weeks on these lines, especially since the NBA announced the cancellation of games from November 1st to November 14th. The NBPA met with
players recently in Los Angeles where they reiterated their commitment to each other and to a fair deal.
Many high profile players have gotten more involved in matters relating to the lockout since the month started as they realize things could go further downhill if a solution is not found soon.
