John Wall moves between Washington and Lexington to train and pursue online classes: NBA News
Since the lockout has disturbed the regular activities of the National Basketball Association players therefore the players have engaged themselves in different activities. Some of the players have signed contracts with the international
teams and are now playing in the foreign leagues, while majority of them has been carrying out their routine workouts in their local facilities or taking part in the exhibition games.
However there are few, who have decided to return to the university in order to complete their degrees.
Washington Wizards young point guard John Wall is one such star. The 21 year old swingman has decided to move between Washington and Lexington to continue his classes and also keep a contact with Kentucky Wildcats coach John Calipari,
who had invited him to carry out his training during this work stoppage.
Explaining the reason behind his move from L.A., Wall said that, “You get tired of being in the same place, going against the same people. They start figuring your game out. You have to switch it up and move from it.”
Apart from training under coach Calipari, Wall had decided to take up two online classes in order to deal with his infrequent tedium.
Wall, who is studying business management course said, “I think the lockout has really given me the opportunity to go back to school … to get closer to my degree. I’m developing, studying and working on my game. It’s not too bad.
Ain’t no practice, so I work out in the morning and I’ve got the rest of the day to myself. It’s just video games and homework.”
John, who had wrecked 38 points in the last exhibition game he had played, fully supported the players union, as they are looking to get a good deal for their NBA fellows in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The 6 foot 4
was taking plenty interest in the labour talks just like any other player, as it’s could affect his career earnings.
Besides that there are also other things in the new CBA that worries the 2009-10 first overall pick which includes hard cap and extra two years on the rookie pact. It not just worries Wall alone, but other NBA players too.
Wall believes that the new Basketball Related Income percentage offered by the players to the owners which is 53 percent is more than enough, as sharing on 50-50 basis was not acceptable to him.
So far the players union and the franchise owners failed to reach an agreement over the new CBA and as a result of that NBA Commissioner David Stern had cancelled the first two weeks of the 2011-12 season. With the new CBA talks
going nowhere, Stern had threatened to scrape the entire next season if the negotiations didn’t show any progress in the coming days.
