John Wall sends out a warning; Says 'he is back' – NBA News
Washington Wizards guard John Wall recently participated in the Drew League versus Goodman League and came out with his head held high. The point guard looked very comfortable on the court and dropped 28 points on his opposition.
Afterwards he had a message for the rest of the NBA; watch out, I am back.
Wall was the first overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft. The athletically gifted point guard went to the Washington Wizards and showed his obvious promise. He had a season average of 16.4 points, 8.3 assists and 1.3 steals per
game. His playmaking skills were particularly impressive. If it hadn’t been for the ridiculously terrific displays of a mister Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, Wall would have walked away with the Rookie of The Year award.
However all that was achieved when the player wasn’t a hundred percent. He took time adjusting to the league, to his new teammates and to the defensive schemes applied against him. Even after that Wall was never a hundred percent
as niggling injuries slowed him down and limited his productivity. His jumper is not yet of a good enough level to make up for the loss of athleticism through injury, therefore John couldn’t be what he wanted to be.
However he has been working out in the summer. The Wizards didn’t make the playoffs and Wall has used the extended break to get healthy. Now he is looking very strong indeed in the summer leagues and the player is adamant it’s
a cause for concern for his opposition.
“After the first couple of games, I wasn’t myself, I was just basically fighting through injuries and trying to play. But now you’re going to see what I did in the summer league and those types of things. You’re going to see the
beginning of me, when I started out and had a triple-double in six games.”
“I’m back. I’m back, man. I’m back to myself,” Wall added after the mesmerizing performance in the Drew-Goodman game. “Now I feel I can do whatever I want to do again, blow past people, get to the basket. I think those things that
I started the season with last year, I got that back. It’s coming back.”
The player expressed his desire to get back on an NBA court as soon as possible. He wants to show what he can really do and help the Washington Wizards turn into a successful basketball team in the process.
“You’re going to see some stuff this year, it’s just whenever — hopefully the season starts as soon as possible. The main thing is just working on my game.”
