John Watson says Lewis Hamilton must keep focus on driving instead of his dog – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver, John Watson has said that Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes must focus on driving instead of his dog to attain good results in the season ahead.
Hamilton brought his dog, Roscoe in the last two races of the season and walked with it in the paddock. Moreover, he also tweeted some of the pictures with his dog in his team’s garage. However, Watson has asserted that the British driver should not bring
his dog in the F1 paddock. He said that even though the surroundings of the paddock are quite luxurious, the sound of engine firing up is not good for a dog.
“There is no place for a dog in the F1 paddock,” Watson told the Daily Express. “For one thing, it is not fair on the animal. It might be in luxurious surroundings, but an engine firing up is like a firecracker or bomb going off for a dog. It's not right.”
Besides, he said that the Silver Arrows have been gone too far to please the 2008 world champion and they have allowed many things for him which he might never be able to get at McLaren.
“It just shows that Mercedes are bending over too far to please Lewis. There is absolutely no way McLaren would have allowed it. Lewis wanted more freedom from McLaren and he has got that, but it can go too far the other way,” he added.
In addition, he insisted that the Brackley-based squad need to help the Briton in getting his focus on driving. He also stated that the 28-year-old has to decide whether he wants to become a hip-hop star or an F1 driver.
Presently, Hamilton is standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 62 points. Besides, he is ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and behind his major opponent, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. He has performed inspiringly well in the season until
now and has scored two podium finishes in the season until now.
Let’s see how he performs in the approaching race and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team or not.
