Despite not having worked with the national squad for three months, outgoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 coach, John Wright, is hopeful of ending his tenure on a high as he takes the Black Caps to the Caribbean Island to battle the Windies.
Wright decided against a renewal after citing differences with the current management and his departure could prove detrimental to the side’s hectic assignments over the course of the last 6 months of the current year. His previous assignment at home ended
in a disappointment where they lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. However, he is looking forward to meet with the group for the final time, and aiming to end on a high.
“I haven't actually pursued that to be honest,” said Wright after being asked whether he has something new to look to. “I just really want to do a good job with this team on this tour. It will be great to get a series win away from home," he said."I personally
really enjoy that and I know the team would, too."
The former batsman further criticized the poor tour-planning, but accepted it as a modern day problem. He was critical of the fact that the team had little time, prior to their international commitments, and attributed it to several factors.
With players playing in different T20 leagues, while others plying their trade in County Cricket, it gives International coaches little time to prepare as compared in the past. For the upcoming tour, the Black Caps had no warm up matches, leaving Wright
to describe it as the modern way of playing cricket.
"That's the modern environment," Wright told the New Zealand Herald. "It is a little bit problematic. We'll be in Miami for about five days and we've really got to hit the ground running, and hope there are no hiccups. You just have to practice with a bit
of purpose under good conditions and mentally you can do quite a lot."
The Black Caps will start their tour by playing two-T20s in Florida, starting from June 30, before taking on the Windies in five ODIs, which will be followed by two Tests with the tour concluding on August 6th.
