In the first ODI of the series at Kingston tomorrow, the 21-year-old will become the youngest Kiwi captain, breaking Stephen Fleming’s record, who led the Black Caps at the age of 23.

"It's the sort of leadership thing you don't want to thrust on [Williamson] too early but, to be quite frank, he's probably had more captaincy experience than most of the players in the party so he was the obvious choice," Wright said.

Wright, who is also a former Kiwi captain, shared that Williamson has led his County team in the past and hopes that the young batsman will deliver the goods for his country.
