John Wright demands patience from New Zealand supporters
New Zealand coach John Wright has deemed his side's crushing defeat in the first Test at the hands of Pakistan “unacceptable”. He has, however, urged the fans to show some patience towards the side. Wright took over the job as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s coach from Mark
Greatbatch.
Wright has stated, “You've got to have a look at things and I suppose in reality you're looking at the challenge which lies ahead of you. Everybody understands pretty clearly that the performance was unacceptable. New Zealand sports fans do have big expectations,
I understand that, and I can say to the public from all of us it was totally unacceptable and we've got to do a lot better. But show us some patience.”
The Kiwis’ coach has greatly criticized his teams batting performance. New Zealand were bundled out for 110 runs in their second innings on a track which looked favorable for batting. Consequently, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 was set a target of 19 runs to win which they achieved
without losing a wicket.
Pakistan were able to bag all ten Kiwi wickets in the final session of play on day three. The match had been closely contested till then and it was expected that it will go to the wire. However, a sudden collapse in batting lineup has re-surface questions
which were swiped under the carpet after the Kiwis’ 2-1 T20 series win against Pakistan.
Wright has insisted that New Zealand need batsmen who can play prolonged innings. He said, “It's going to take some time and we need to find batsmen that are prepared to be very patient and really want to stay at the crease. If I can do my job properly and
the boys respond, we'll get there”
The Test series and the six one-day internationals (ODI) to follow are of great importance to both teams. New Zealand is looking to leave behind the memories of a horrendous Sub-Continent tour. Pakistan, on the other hand, is hoping to redeem its stature
in the cricketing world which has been hampered by recent on and off field events.
The second Test between the two sides begins on Saturday, 15th of January, at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864.
