John Wright most suitable candidate to coach Australia, feels Peter Roebuck – Cricket News Update
The renowned cricket columnist, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Michael-Roebuck-c81836, has backed former New Zealand captain, John Wright, for the post of head coach of the Australian cricket team.
Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is currently hunting for a new mentor for the national side, after the coach, Tim Nielsen’s termination on the recommendation of Don Argus’ review report.
There are many names circulating in the media for the crucial position. However, Roebuck, who is widely regarded as one the best experts of the game, has asked Australian cricket administration to hand over the charge to Wright who holds a decent experience
of coaching International teams under his belt.
In his fresh article in The Sydney Morning Herald, Roebuck noted that since Wright has done terrific work during his coaching stints with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and New Zealand, he is the best man for the hot seat.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883 is the coach best placed to lift the Australian team. Although other worthy candidates have put their hats in the ring, the Kiwi is the right man for the job. He has an impressive track record, an affable manner that conceals toughness and a
fund of cricketing sense,” Roebuck wrote in his column.
During his stay with Men in Blue and his native, Kiwi team, Wright, who has served Black Caps in 82 Tests and 149 One-dayers, helped both sides achieve decent results in every form of cricket.
The famous columnist also compared Wright with the New South African coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, saying that both former Test cricketers have sharp cricketing minds and an ability to lift their sides even in the worst of times.
"Wright has coached http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and India with considerable success. Wright handled India well and they rose steadily on his watch... Like most openers worth their salt, Wright adjusts his game to meet varying conditions," added the former English cricketer
who has an experience of 335 first-class matches.
The Kangaroos are presently on the tour to South African, where they will play ODI and Test series after a couple of Twenty20 Internationals.
Roebuck insisted that since the Aussie side has been undergoing a rebuilding process, only an experienced coach like Wright can help them regain their lost pride.
