Gabba has been Australia’s strong ally as the Kangaroos have not lost a match here since 1988. Contrary to Australia’s unbeaten streak at Gabba, the Kiwis have not won a Test on Australian soil since 1985.
New Zealand’s last series win down under had come in 1985, under Richard Hadlee. John Wright was also part of the squad that had kicked off the series with a victory at Gabba and went on to win the series 2-1.

Australia.
Wright said that though Australia's long unbeaten record at the Gabba is impressive but they are not bothered by it and will go there with an aim to win.
"It's impressive, no doubt about it, but we have everything to play for," said Wright while talking to the media reporters on Tuesday. "We are not daunted by that record, we see it as an opportunity," he added further.

Wright said that there are a lot of positives to be taken from last weekend’s tour game.
"We're just building quietly. I feel we got a little bit of confidence," said the New Zealand coach. "We got a lot out of that game. And they were kind enough to include three of the attack that are going to be here (in first Test)," he added further.
