John Wright unfazed by New Zealand’s lack of match practice ahead of Caribbean tour – Cricket News Update
The New Zealand coach, John Wright, said on Wednesday that not having proper match practice in a build up to next week’s tour of West Indies could be problematic for the Kiwi players. However he said that it has become a common practice in the modern day
cricket and hoped his players would manage to “hit the ground running” against the Windies.
The New Zealand Cricket team, under Ross Taylor’s leadership, will leave for West Indies on Sunday, June 24. The Black Caps will spend five days in Miami, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usa-c759, before touching down in the Caribbean islands, where they will play the tour opening T20 International
on June 30.
They did not have a proper practice camp at home and will not have any warm-up match prior to the one-day leg of the tour.
"That's the modern environment," said Wright while speaking to a leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 daily on Wednesday. "It is a little bit problematic...we've really got to hit the ground running, and hope there are no hiccups. You just have to practice with a bit of
purpose under good conditions and mentally you can do quite a lot," he added further.
New Zealand have not played an international match across any format since hosting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in a full-fledged series in February and March this year. But a hectic schedule awaits them, which kick starts with the West Indies tour later this month.

"There's a lot of cricket coming up for these boys so they'll go in fresh,” said Wright. "Resources are tight and we've got to accept that and get on with it. We'll work together, fight hard and endeavour to get the right results."
The Kiwis are scheduled to play two T20 Internationals, five One Day Internationals and a three-match Test series during the upcoming tour of West Indies.
