  1. 1200, but not for the reason the first person gave - all four choices are divisible by 2.

It seems that John prefers larger numbers to smaller, but he has an even stronger preference to even over odd, and when presented with two even numbers, chooses the smaller because it has no odd digits. When presented with these four choices, he would dismiss 900 and 1100, and would choose 1200 over 1000 simply because it is larger, seeing that they both have one odd digit.

  2. 1200..12,4,36 is .divisible by 2...

  3. 1000 and 1200

  4. 900.

He likes 400 but not 300; 400 is the square of an integer (20) but 300 is not.

He likes 100 but not 99; 100 is the square of an integer (10) but 99 is not.

He likes 3600 but not 3700; 3600 is the square of an integer (60) but 3700 is not.

900 is the square of an integer (30), but 1000, 1100, and 1200 are not.
