  1. I'm sorry that no one who's been there answered, but I've been to many of these including Saddlebrook, Vandemeer, Stan Smith, and Sea Colony plus I've read the write ups in the tennis mags about Newk's style and I think I can give you a good idea about it.

It's a lot of tennis with morning and afternoon sessions and free play, but it's not intense and if you need to back off, they let you. But get yourself physically ready and not just aerobics. There is essentially no running except for light jogging around the courts and you'll do lots of stretching. You might get blisters on hands and feet especially if you are doing the weeklong.

You will be paired roughly by ability and they will make switches for better on court match ups. If you have a tennis buddy of equal ability and desire, then go together as that will probably be the best and safest workout partnership you can achieve.

The standard hotel room is fairly basic, but nice. The condos and casitas are much nicer. If you really work hard and go all out with the tennis, it won't matter as you basically aren't in your room much and when you are you really need to get rest.

Newk's is known for a chill attitude, but they really want enthusiasm when you're on the court. You can always take a day or afternoon off, but there isn't a whole lot of exciting things to do elsewhere.

In the end, what you get out of the experience is how much you put in. You will hit more tennis balls in 1 week than you ordinarily do in 1 month and the instructors will show you some of the new techniques so it's a great opportunity, but overall it really is meant to be fun. Hope this helps.
