John wall continues to impress; scores 41 points in a pickup game – NBA Update
The NBA deadlock is on the cusp of entering its third month, despite the ongoing negotiations between the players union and NBA officials.
While many players have been bent to pursue overseas opportunities in order to some money and stay fit, there are some players who are keeping themselves busy in the pickup games.
John Wall, the Washington Wizard’s point guard, is one such player and he has been a force in these games so far.
John is a passionate player and just wants to play more and more to keep himself in motion. “It’s not all about the money. It’s about the love the game,” he said. “I’m competitive. I love playing basketball.”
Nearly a week after pounding 74 points in two same-day games at the Impact Basketball competitive Training Series, the 21 year guard dropped 41 points in an exhibition game played between the Goodman league and the Knox Indy pro-Am.
Recording a triple double with 41 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds, Wall led his team, the Goodman league to a close victory. Watching him score 40 points in the game branded as the “clash of superstars”, Kevin Durant, the Oklahoma
City Star, was all praise for John;
“He’s unbelievable, He is going to be an all-star in this league for years to come. It’s a joy to be on the court with him. As fierce a competitor as they come.” Durant said.
This performance comes on the back of an outstanding stint in the Impact Basketball competitive Training Series, where he averaged 40.8 points in his first five games. He also chipped in with 25 points in the finale.
John is making good use of the lockout, which has already led to the cancellation of 43 preseason games and the postponement of training camps. Oozing with energy, John recently revealed that he is using these games to get himself
prepared for the next NBA season.
For Wall, the last season was cut short by an injury. He was fully fit only in the second half of the season and by then; the Wizards had already sunk to low. He did show shades of brilliance in the All-Star rookie game, in which
he won the MVP; however for the Wizards to emerge as an elite team, Wall will have to be way more consistent.
At present, he is certainly on the right path and come Sunday, he will get another chance to impress when he joins LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant to play a charity match.
