  1. Answer is D.  2 3/4 + 8 1/2 is the sum you need to do to get the answer.  8 + 2 is 10 and 1/2 + 3/4 can be worked out by splitting the 1/2 into 2 quarters and adding it to the 3/4.  3/4 + 2/4 is 1 1/4.  Add the 1 1/4 to 10 and you get 11 1/4.

  2. D

    8.5 feet above ground + 2.75 below

    11.25

  3. D,  11 1/4  feet.

  4. D

    I am very sure

round the denominator of the 1/2 to 4..

    2/4+3/4= 5/4

    5/4= 1 and 1/4

    1 and 1/4 + 8 + 2 = 11 and 1/4

  5. subtract each answer from 2 3/4 and if it gets 8 1/2 it works :)

  6. The answer is D. But he only needs to put the post in about 1.5 ft. This will be strong enough.

  7. D but that's cheating

  8. 8.5 feet plus 2.75 feet = 11.25 feet

    D

    _/

  9. d

  10. c...11 1/2 feet.
