Johnny Cecotto Jr. to test for Force India at 2011 Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi – Formula 1 news
GP2 driver Johnny Cecotto Junior will be testing for Sahara Force India at the 2011 Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi which is scheduled to take place from November 15-17 at the Yas Marina circuit.
The young driver from Venezuela will be driving alongside British driver Max Chilton, the UK-based team confirmed.
Cecotto landed a career in GP2 with Trident back in 2009 after graduating from Karting. This year he had a contract with Ocean Racing Technology.
He is the son of Johnny Cecotto, winner of two motorcycling championships, who has also worked with teams like Theodore and Tolman back in 1980’s during his Formula 1 career.
The YDT which will be a three-day event will see Cecotto in action behind the wheels of VJM04 on Wednesday and this will be the Venezuelan’s first ever chance to drive a Formula 1 car.
An excited Cecotto said, “I think all drivers want to race in Formula 1, so the chance to get time in the Sahara Force India F1 car is a big moment for me. In fact, I can't stop smiling at the thought of driving such an amazing car.”
Cecotto is extremely delighted at being given this opportunity of which he plans to make use and hence the 22-year-old is all-set for the upcoming challenge. He is hoping to put up his best performance during the one day that he will get to showcase his
driving talent so that he can draw as much attention and appreciation as he can. This will not only help him get a good taste of Formula 1 but also hone his abilities further.
“I know there's a massive amount to learn and a lot of work to get through on the day, but I definitely feel ready to get behind the wheel. I hope I can do a good job and repay the faith the team have shown by giving me a chance in the car,” he said.
The Sahara Force India team is also very content and happy over its decision of signing up Cecotto after a deal with Chilton to drive at the YDT got finalised earlier this month.
Let’s see if Cecotto will be able to pull off an impressive drive at the Young Driver Test next week on Wednesday, November 15, 2011.
