Johnny Miller says Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are his favourites
The twenty-five time PGA Tour (Professional Golf Association) winner, Johnny Miller, likes two top-ranked golfers, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy.
He shared his views in his recent interview. He spoke about some of the most favourite players of golf.
Mickelson is on the 11th position and McIlroy is the current No. 3, according to the Official World Golf Rankings.
Miller, who had won his last title in 1994 and is now working as a broadcaster, said, "If I was caddying for Phil, with some of the stuff he does, I'd make him wear a shock collar".
The 41-year-old Mickelson is a forty-time PGA Tour winner and has amazing capabilities. His scoring average and driving distance have been impressive.
In the current season of PGA, Mickelson is doing well. He won the title of AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am by scoring a 17-under par and 269.
He defeated Charlie Wi by a two-stroke lead and displayed a tremendous performance throughout the tournament, earning a handsome amount of $1,152,000.
After winning the glory at Pebble Beach, he is playing at the Northern Trust Open, at Riviera Country Club and is again on top of the leaderboard.
Miller’s second most favourite is the Northern Irish professional, Rory McIlroy. He is a young lad but has won several titles and awards in his career, which makes him Miller’s hot favourite.
McIlroy recorded two PGA Tour wins in the past and three at the European Tour. He turned professional in 2007 and has been performing extremely well in most of the tournaments since then.
In 2011, he finished on the second position in the Race to Dubai, earning €4,002,168 throughout the year at European Tour. He is one of the toughest rivals for all the payers in the field and is also committed to golf.
McIlroy has not started his PGA Tour season this year. Nonetheless, his performance of 2011, at the PGA was commendable. He earned $1,905,609 and competed well in most of the tournaments.
Both golfers are delivering their best and supporting Miller’s selection. The future of both is bright and they are the strongest contenders for top positions on the leaderboard.
Miller’s selection is justified according to the statistics. He is one of the most senior personalities of golf and his selection is being appreciated by fans and observers.
Now, Mickelson and McIlroy have to be more consistent in order to play better than before, so that they can be favourites of other senior players alike.
