Johnny Narron becomes new hitting coach for Milwaukee Brewers – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers which was looking for a hitting coach has finally got one on Monday, November 28, when they hired Johnny Narron. With Dale Sveum, the former hitting coach of the Brewers, gone, there were many speculations as to who will assume the
charge.
However, the Brewers brought in Johnny Narron to replace Sveum. Having formerly remained the Minor League coach of the Brewers and serving as the manager as well, Johnny Narron is expected to keep the offence operative and sprightly with his presence.
Narron, interestingly, is the older brother of the currently serving Milwaukee Brewers’ bench coach Jerry Narron. Johnny Narron had had an interview with Ron Roenicke, the manager of the Brewers before Thanksgiving.
Johnny has previously remained with the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers as the around the clock mentor to Josh Hamilton as well. He was given that charge to help the outfielder and the American League Most Valued Player overcome his drug addiction.
The services of Narron were recognised by Hamilton when he was informed of the decision. Both personally and professionally, Hamilton stated that Narron helped him throughout these years.
"Johnny is very talented and has helped me tremendously, both personally and professionally," Hamilton said. "He is fulfilling a dream to be a Major League batting coach, and I have told him previously I would never stand in his way from doing that. We will
stay in touch, and I wish him great success with the Brewers."
For his part, Narron also talked of Hamilton, recalling the years spent with the talented player of the Rangers. “I have nothing but love for Josh and I wish him all the success in the world," Narron said.
As Dale Sveum was hired by the Chicago Cubs early this month, the Brewers were looking for a strong prospect to replace him. Johnny Narron will surely be a good choice for the position considering the fact that he has previously had the experience.
Now that the hitting coach has been hired, the Brewers are almost complete in their coaching staff. It will be interesting to see what impact Narron will have for the Brewers during the 2012 regular season.
