Johnny Wilkinson...England's saving grace.?

Now, I am a Wallabies supporter, and in the quarters we went down to the team that played better on the day, but, after watching the England V. France game I've found it quite apparent that without Johnny Wilkinson's golden boot, the Poms would be up a certain creek without a paddle. The English forward pack has been stellar in the past two games, but we all know forwards don't score tries. The only punch in the English back line, is Jason Robinson. Just look at the stats Johnny Wilkinson has scored over double what any other English player has scored. Do England really deserve to be in the finals??

  1. Johnny's kicking ability will be no match for Mongomery's boot and the Springboks ability to score tries.  End of story.

  2. Nah, but you are there all the same.

  3. England and the All Blacks seem to have opposite curses!

The All Blacks have 4 strong years building towards a world cup and bottle the world cup. England have 4 c**p years after winning the world cup and then make the final, something fishey is going on! Johny Wilkinson sold his soul to the devil at the age of 18, funny how for 3 and a half years he was injured England struggled and as soon as he is back he gets them into a world cup final! maybe the world cup should have the following written on it:

    New Zealand 1987

    Australia 1991

    South Africa 1995

    Australia 1999

    Johny 2003

    Sir Johny 2007

  4. In short, no. Rugby is a running game. This is more proof that the penalty kick needs to be devalued. It's a sad state of affairs when two penalties from one man's boot can beat a fifteen-man effort to get the ball over the line. Rugby is not about kicking the ball over the post.

  5. It's not J WILKO my friend!!! The rest of the pack contributed to his confident kicking!

If the fowards did not give the Half Back quality ball then surely the results would be different!

  6. Right now the biggest threat isn't Wilkinson's boot, but as long as he's in the game, the boks defense will have to contain him. This will leave Robinson open on the wing. Without Johnny, the defense can spread out more, and concentrate on Robinson. In short, England will be much stronger then the team the Boks beat 36-0 earlier in the tournament.

  7. Without Wilkinson the English are nothing. Oh and Wayne A, the English pack is pitiful compared to the All Black pack. They get decimated regularly by the Blacks and every country in the world knows the All Black pack is the strongest.

  8. As an fellow Aussie its hard to suffer the same fate again, but England have the strongest pack in the game, which provides Jonny with match winning opportunities, they still can't score tries though ! Go Wallabies, oops Springboks !

  9. South Africa will tear them apart.  I watched them play Argentina and they reminded me of the Wallabies of an earlier era. One blokes boot will not stop them. They are the Best Team and deserve to win.
