Johnnys Legacy likely to win Maiden Hurdle – Cork Preview
Johnnys Legacy looks to be confident enough to demonstrate an epic run at Cork racecourse on Thursday, March 22 in an effort to notch up top spot in the Explicit.Ie Maiden Hurdle.
The high-stakes contest with €6,900 of prize money will start at 3:15 (GMT).
On 2m long Yielding track, the Mrs John Harrington-trained bay gelding is geared up to compete against Brideswell Lad, Captains Dilemma, Cognomen, Courtncatcher, Dara Tango, Joe The Rogue, Miradane, Mystic Desir, One Hit Wonder, Rising Altitude, Tabhachtach,
Tennis Cap, Van Diemens Land, Ballyadam Gale, Country Class and Get Off The Stage.
Johnnys Legacy has been enjoying great form since the beginning of 2012. After earning a runner-up rank on January 20, the five-year-old bagged his maiden victory on February 10. He was 15-8 favourite for that race.
The dashing horse went on to gain another runner-up position in the next outing on February 17. He moved forward to finish third in his last start on March 9.
Since making his debut in June 2010, the John G. Hennessy-owned horse has been performing consistently. His recent purple patch suggests that he will be able to add another victory to his portfolio by winning today’s mega marathon. His chances to finish
first are more than 90 percent.
However, some of his competitors like Tennis Cap and Van Diemens Land are too likely to fight potentially for success.
After starting his career with a marvellous victory on April 25, 2011, Tennis Cap moved forward to gain a runner-up rank in the very next outing in the month of June. The W. P. Mullins-trained bay gelding grabbed third spot each in all the four subsequent
outings.
On the other hand, Van Diemens Land accomplished a marvellous triumph in his maiden start on October 1, 2011. He finished 7th in the second and last race of his career on December 29.
In this situation, success is likely to be a rather tough task for Johnnys Legacy. Let us see how the hot favourite gelding makes his way towards victory. Good luck to him.
