Johnson Charles, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB) has announced the 13-man squad that will go up against Australia in the first three ODI’s of the five match series. The WICB has made numerous changes in the line-up for the ODI series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johnson-Charles-c69060, Windward Islands cricketer, has earned a place in the national side while Tino Best has also forced his way back into the side after performing well in the domestic circuit. Another cricketer to make his return to
the Caribbean outfits is Dwayne Bravo.
Charles is yet to play an international 50-over game but he has represented the West Indies in two T20I. The chairman of WICB selection panel http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clyde-Godfrey-Butts-c51354 asserts that the youngster has learned a lot since his last tour and deserves
a chance in the playing XI.
He said, “Johnson has shown marked improvement in his batting and deserves another opportunity at international level.”
About Best and Bravo’s recall into the side, Butts said “Tino over the last two years has been very consistent with his performance in the shorter format of the game, and Dwayne looks like he has returned to form and has been consistent.”
West Indies cricket team has been struck hard with injuries and this has forced the selectors to opt for young blood. Batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-Barath-c886 both have broken their fingers and will not be part of the team for the
first three ODI’s.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 for the ODI series even though he is a regular member of Test and T20
team.
Butts held that selectors wanted to cut the workload of Fidel therefore they have not picked him for the ODI’s. He said, “Fidel is being considered for two formats of the game at this. It is all about workload management as we approach
a long and demanding schedule of cricket, so we have to handle him with care, considering the injury problems which he has had in the past.”
