Johnson Charles, the young West Indian opening batsman, is disappointed to have missed out on a century in the second match of the tri-nation series against India and has revealed that he loves to bat alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386.
The home team won the toss at Kingston, Jamaica and opted to bowl first in the absence of their skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379, who missed the match due to a groin injury. The Men in Blue struggled on a slow and low pitch, managing just 229 runs for the loss of seven
wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 were also in trouble at the beginning, having lost three wickets for merely 26 runs on the board. However, Charles and Bravo took the responsibility on their shoulders from then onwards and accumulated 116 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership.
The Caribbean men crossed the line in the 48th over of the innings with just one wicket in hand.
Charles, for scoring 97 runs off 100 balls with the help of eight boundaries and four sixes, was named as the Player of the Match. While expressing his views in the post-match presentation ceremony, the right-handed opener admitted that he should have finished
the match for his team. The talented stroke-maker further added that he and Bravo share extra-ordinary understanding.
“That was a good innings, previous game I struggled a bit. Me and Bravo have always been batting good, I enjoy batting with him. Wicket improved a bit, it got flatter and was more of a batting pitch. I would have liked to get three figures and carry my team
to victory. I am disappointed about it,” he said.
The stand-in captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754, is happy to have registered a victory but thinks that West Indies should have won the match with a greater margin.
The all-rounder expressed, “We find ways to get into these positions, but we won in the end. Teams of the past could have just fallen, that shows the belief of everyone in the team, victories such as these bring us together.”
The next match of the tournament is going to be played tomorrow between India and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at the same venue.
