The veteran Red believed that in order to get the maximum out of the juvenile forward, it is pertinent that he gets the backing of the senior players, and tipped him to do outstanding things for the club in the future.
“Raheem is 17-years-old but you make him feel like one of the lads because he is and he deserves to be here,” he told the reporter.
“It makes him feel more comfortable - and more comfortable when he's going into games, which is going to help him and the team.”
Johnson, who himself arrived at Anfield from Portsmouth in June 2009, has so far capped 104 appearances for the Reds.
The defender recounted the time when he began his career at Merseyside, and claimed to have been helped on his way by a then senior member of the team, Stuart Pearce.
He said that encouragement from the senior players tends to motivate the young lads, and vowed to now play his role as the former.
“You have to encourage the young lads. When I first came through, I had people like Stuart Pearce and other big players helping me.”
