Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050, has admitted that the mood in the dressing room following their 3-1 loss to Aston Villa was that of disappointment, but urged the team to bounce back from the setback.
The Anfield outfit were humbled at their own back yard by a young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert side, who gave a perfect lesson to the hosts on aggressive counter attacking football.
The Reds fired a total of 16 shots at the Villans goal, but only managed to find the back of the net once, courtesy a deflection from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 of a Johnson effort.
The visitors, on the other hand, failed to see too much of the ball. However, they converted from 3 of their 9 shots on target, much to the disbelief and frustration of a packed Anfield crowd.
The defeat on Saturday put Liverpool 7 points behind the fourth-ranked Tottenham Hotspur.
Given that the Reds went into the game having suffered just a single loss in their previous 11 fixtures, Johnson revealed that his side were expecting to notch up all three points against Villa.
The English International admitted that the atmosphere in the dressing room was downbeat following the defeat, but stressed his side to put the disappointment behind them and turn their focus towards the upcoming matches.
“I think we were lacking a bit of tempo. It was difficult and it was just one of those games,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“It was a great opportunity to pick up three more points and we missed out. We have to put this behind us. It's gone now and there's nothing we can do about it.”
“We have a lot of games coming up and we have to look to put things right next weekend.”
The 28-year old was also all praise for the visitors’ compact defence, pointing out that they afforded very little space for the Reds to work with close to the 18 yards box. However, he felt that his side should have played their passes quickly to deal with
the problem.
