Johny Hendricks is inspired by Georges St-Pierre’s comeback – UFC News
Georges St-Pierre is arguably one of the most exciting and inspiring UFC fighters of all time. He has been able to beat the best in his division and inspire others to do so too. GSP recently made his successful comeback against Carlos Condit and proved that
any fighter can come back after severe injuries and play his top game. If not all, at least Johny Hendricks is quite inspired with GSP’s comeback.
“For GSP to overcome that moment, the moment he wasn't able to overcome against [Matt] Serra, it speaks volumes to me on how skilled this guy is,” said Hendricks.
“That's why we that much more want to fight him because we want to go against that level. ... Clearly, after the resume that we've put together, we definitely want GSP,” he added.
GSP made his comeback after almost 18 months. He was operated for a severe knee injury but proved that nothing can stop him from fighting. He defeated Carlos Condit via unanimous decision in an epic battle between the interim welterweight champion and the
actual welterweight champion.
Even Condit was all praise for GSP, admitting that his top game is very unpredictable and unbeatable. Similarly, even Hendricks is inspired with GSP’s return, especially in top form. In most cases, fighters fail to make an impression in their comeback bouts
but GSP proved his point.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is now hoping to place GSP against middleweight champion Anderson Silva in UFC’s first ever super-fight. Even though GSP has not yet accepted the challenge, middleweight champion Anderson Silva is already in for it. In
fact, it was Silva who first suggested to fight GSP next year.
For now, GSP has taken some time off for his family and friends. When asked if he is willing to face Silva, GSP asserted that he will consult the situation with his team members and come up with an answer soon. It should be noted here that President of the
UFC Dana White is already excited for the fight, and he is even making the preparations for the most epic showdown of UFC.
