Johny Hendricks knocks out Martin Kampmann – UFC News
Johny Hendricks once again proved he is one of the hardest hitters in MMA by knocking out Martin Kampmann right in the first round at UFC 154. Although Kampmann was expected to perform better against Hendricks, he fell victim to the American like all others.
Hendricks escalated to 14 wins, 8 being via knockout.
Hendricks is definitely one of the most exploding fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship right now, and he proves his mettle every time he faces an opponent superior to him, or considerably superior to him.
This was the second time in his last three fights that Hendricks was able to score a one-minute knockout victory over a top contender.
Hendricks delivered a left cross on the jaw of Kampmann, making the contender hit the mat. All of this happened in just 46 seconds of the match.
“It feels great. Martin Kampmann is a tough dude. I trained with him before,” said Hendricks. “I just started hitting that combo a week ago. It came to me in a dream.”
Moreover, the young fighter expressed his eagerness towards getting a title shot in his division.
“Please give me a shot at that belt,” Hendricks said. “I know Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit are fighting. But I want a title shot.”
Kampmann entered the cage with a three-match win streak but unfortunately he had to give it all up after the brutal blow by Hendricks. He now stands with 20 wins and 6 losses.
In the main event fight, welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre made his comeback against interim champion Carlos Condit. GSP was able to defeat Condit in a bloody war via unanimous decision. Although GSP tried his best to score a knockout over Condit,
he was unable to do so. In fact, during the third round, it was GSP who hit the mat after a left kick from Condit hit his head. The champion, however, was able to make it back to his feet and deliver some outstanding grapples to finally take down Condit.
To fans’ disappointment, ‘The Rush’ did not confirm whether he would fight middleweight champion Anderson Silva. According to him, he needs time to think over the entire scenario.
