Hey everyone. I got my permit when i was 16, and then I never got my license...eventually at 18 years old i decided i was going to join the army and needed a state I.D, so in getting my state I.D the DMV said it would cancel out my permit. I decided not to join the army and go with the Air force instead...but they air force says i need my license or i will be very limited in what i can do.

My question is Do I have to get my permit AGAIN? and then wait 6 months to get my license????? because i knew that was the rule when i was 16, but now im an adult (18) and I need to work...

  1. I am in the army and do not possess a drivers license.  I was limited as to what I could do but I am doing what I wanted to do. There are very good jobs that do not require a license, and once you are in your chain of command can help you get your license because they'll probably want you to drive gov vehicles (I know mine is wanting to get me mine so I can drive humvees and 5tons)

So see what options are open without it, and then go from there.

  2. No your 18 you can just get your drivers license.
