I have seriously been considering enlisting in the Military for sometime now and I want a little feed back from persons who have had the experience or know people who have. I want to join because I want to travel, and I seek the discipline and structure that they provide. I am currently a sophomore in college with no ROTC training. What do you all think?

  1. join while your in college and i can help you get a great recruiter and you can recieve tons of bonuses like the gi bill which will give you any extra college for free and while your in college there is a document that states this soldier may not leave til they finish college its the same thing i did i am in the national guard its the way to go with out a doubt text me or call 9086014534

  2. You might want to consider finishing college, and then going into some sort of structure government job.  For example, Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Border Patrol, D.E.A., ATF, etc...  I wouldn't recommend the military just for wanting to travel, and needing discipline.  You can get that from one of the jobs I've listed, plus dozens more, without the problems you'd have in the military.  I agreed with another answerer, only join if you REALLY want to serve and defend your country.

  3. If you do look at joining, definitely go in as a officer, so long as you finish your degree.  The Marines do all of their ROTC training in the summer (as opposed to Air Force ROTC which is available on campus for some schools).

Do not join the service only for travel or education - those are both good benefits, but I found that you must join because you want to serve and defend the country.

  4. It seems like you have already stated the benefits. What branch are you thinking of? The Army is probably the most open and safe to women of all the armed forces.
