Question:

Joining the Army with a several misdemeanors...?

I was arrested several times for drug possession (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia [two times for possession and two times for paraphernalia]. One of the possessions was when I was a juvenile (I understand that record isn't sealed) and one was about two years later. The second possession resulted in probation which I later incurred a probation violation (which is apparently considered a separate misdemeanor). After those two, on two separate occasions I was ticketed/arrested for drug paraphernalia and that concludes my criminal history (aside from a few traffic violations).

My question is this, with all of that happening (the last one happening roughly 5 and a half years ago) would it be possible to get accepted into the Army? I previously tried to enlist and was turned down (I had a high school diploma and no work history) and got acceptable scores (120+ line on the ASVAB). Since then I have been attending college (have about 30 credit hours) and have had a steady job for over a year and was curious if either of those would get me past the "5 misdemeanor hurdle".

  1. Ive seen worse slide....just talk to a recruiter.

  2. your education or work history has no bearing.  5 is too many even for the Army.

  3. You are the perfect person for the military. They drug you and take your conscious away anyway to brainwash you into battle and fight against people that don't even know you exist.

    FACT.

  4. I don't believe any of those will prevent you from getting in any branch of the services.

The best thing to do is talk directly to a recruiter of the branch that you want to enlist in. I know that different  branches will have  different standards from each other.

Also some recruiters have a deadline to meet their "quotes", and they can pull some very important strings.

I was there in the 60s, and if they eliminated everyone with a record like yours the CONGRESS would have had to go to VietNam.

You've go nothing to lose, talk to your recruiter.

  5. i congradulate you on continuing your education.   however, the standards havent changed anything more than 4 misdemeanors and your pretty much DONE.

sorry to be so blunt but im sure you wouldnt want me to blow sunshine up your fourth point of contact either.
