Question:

Joining the Military after high-school

I just turned 18, and I have to go back for another year of high-school; I've already made my decision about joining. Alot of people get mad when I say that's what I'm going to do after high-school; I can't see myself going to college or working a desk-job. Any ideas on how I can just get it through to them, that that's what I want to do, it kind of feels like that's what I was meant to do. (I'm Canadian.)

I've always been interested in the military ever since I could remember. It gets annoying when people say "no, that's not what you're going to do." and "I don't think you should do it."

  1. Tell them that you want to do something in your life that will make a difference in the world. You could also tell them that after your service you will be equipped with the skills and resources that are needed to succeed in life. You will also have  pretty good benefits. (health-care benefits after you retire and money for college) You could also show articles from newspapers and magazines that show how the military has helped individual communities in Iraq.

  2. I can relate to your situation. Because i've been there.Thiers no way you can get through those types of people. All you can do is just tell them the reason why you want to be in the military just like you wrote on your message. Its your life it doesnt matter what people think. All that matters , is you being happy.

Take it from me dont let them break  you mentally from joining the military. My mistake was that i let their words sink and get stuck in my head casuing me to back out. Honestly i hate college but at least im in ROTC

  3. NO NO NO NO . COLLEGE YES GET A PART TIME JOB DORM IN A COLLEGE ENJOY YOUR LIFE. THE MILITARY WILL ONLY BRAIN WASH U ESPECIALLY THE MARINES NO CHILD U ONLY LIVE ONCE DONT THROW YOUR LIFE AWAY
