  1. I don't know much about the coast guard but I do know about the army. My husband is in the army. Life in the Army is ok. He spends a good amount of time at home. For every year he is in iraq, he gets another whole year home. Then he'd go back again for a year. And that happens on and off until he's out of the army. Then also at times he has CQ which is a 24 hr shift (maybe once a mth), and sometimes he goes to the field (he'd be gone max of a mth). He just had CQ like a week ago and he's about to go to the field on monday for a mth. But it just depends on u. I mean I don't really mind it at all.

  2. I am in the Army, and I would say that the Coast Guard may be better if you are going in with a family already in tow.

All services use the same pay scale.

  3. All 5 Military Branches(Army,Navy,AF,Coast Guard,Marines) use the same pay scale. All have the same benefits as well(Health,Educuation, etc)

If you want a good family life, The Army is NOT the way to go. They have One-Year deployments, training before and after.

Coast Guard would be your best bet if you want to choose between the two.

The Army is nice for job skills, etc. But truthfully, for a family man, Coast Guard is a MUCH better choice.

  4. pay is the same for all branches coast guard is the 2nd toughest bootcamp
