i really think that would be best for me right now, but i'm sure. my brother and cousin are in the marines, and i really wanna make something of my life, but i'm not the most athletic able girl. I hated gym in school, and i'm pretty much the lazy-est person in the world. Band and marching was was the most movin i did. and i didnt do band in college cuz i said they practices to much and had to be dedicated.

do you guys think i should just suck it up and be a man or is there no hope for me and the army??

  1. If you were reading this question, like myself and the others answering it, what would you say. Your first sentence "i really think that would be best for me right now" came from your own mind. Joining the military is a BIG step and if you think it would be beneficial, put your big girl panties on and do it! You may surprise yourself.

  2. DO NOT join them military right now.  Bush has made TOO MANY enemies in his tenure, so the military will be stretched thin trying to fix his mistakes and protecting the u.s. from the new enemies he's made.....longer tours of duty....speeding up bootcamp to turn out troops faster, etc..... DONT DO IT.

  3. I've seen tons of fat people in the Army, and tons of athletic girls. The PT tests really aren't that hard.

  4. 90% of succeeding on the marines is mental. If you are mentally tough, you can make it. Trust me, if you are willing to do the work, you will succeed. Other suggestions for success:

Try to get into shape as best you can before boot camp. Lots of running and push ups there.

Do not take anything a drill instructor says to you personally. Their job is to break you of your "civilian" habbits and conceptions and rebuild you as a marine.

Take everything as a learning experience.

The manual they will give you an basic skills. Learn it, live it, love it.

If you can, start taking shooting lessions. Every marine is a rifleman (or woman).

  5. if i were you go for it.

im 16 and im a girl and severely un athletic lol

but i have passed all my interviews and my barb test

and in 2 weeks time i go to the selection centre

and i really hope i pass. i really also want to join

because its supposedly a great job to have.

lifelong fitness. great money, and chances

to go further and higher than you could in a civillian career

without the gcse's.. btw i got mine today and done rubbish

yet i can still join my chosen trade. combat medical technician

you might as well give it a shot lol x

  6. And here i thought i was the laziest person in the world. How did you get in front of me. lol

I say go and do it. thats what i have done.  I head off in October.

It will be great life skills, you can save some money, get some experince. And a great long career if you wanna be a lifer. And if not milkitary service looks pretty good on a resume as it shows you are dedicated, loyal, harder working etc.

I wasnt the most athletic guy around. only time you could get me to run is if it was to the shops for a can of coke and a packet of chips. But 6 months made a world of difference.

I say there is great hope for you in the army, for you even to ask this question is the first step.

  7. Well to be honest, I am an army veteran and I'm still the laziest person in the world :p

Seriously though, joining the military will prove to yourself that you achieve whatever you put your mind to. In fact, the obstacles in the military are designed so that most people can overcome them, and be proud of the fact that they did.

The military isn't the only solution to what you are looking for, but it is a possible solution. The military won't change who you are (except physically of course), only your perception of what you can accomplish.
